December 2009 Post Holiday Party

On Tuesday, December 1, 2009, Moorpark Post 502 of The American Legion held its annual Holiday / Christmas dinner at the Grinder Restaurant in Moorpark.  The dinner was well attended with guest traveling from as far away at Arroyo Grande in San Luis Obispo County.

The annual event honored Colonel George Compton, who served as the Ventura County Veterans Service Officer for the past ten years and now retired (in word not deed).

During the evening, Moorpark Mayor, Janice Parvin stopped by and expressed her appreciation for our veterans and their families.  Sixteenth District American Legion Commander, Alvin Evenson and his Historian, Ken Johnson attended the event as guests of Post 502.  Special recognition was made to Matias Friz, 2009 Boy State selectee from Moorpark High School who attended the yearly Boy State event sponsored by The American Legion.  The event is a week long course in how government works and held in Sacramento.
