Boy Scouts prepare to retire worn out flags with honor

When a United States flag becomes ripped, torn, weather-beaten or just worn out beyond prepare, it is proper to dispose of the flag with dignity and full honors. This is the only time that (according to the United States Code) a flag may be burned. It is done with the utmost care, dignity and respect.

Boy Scouts Help Raise New Flags at Moorpark Veterans Memorial

When flags become unserviceable, they are replaced with new flags. Here you see the Boy Scouts assisted by The American Legion raising the new flags at the town veterans memorial. The top flag is the flag of our country. The 2nd black and white "POW*MIA" (Prisoners of War / Missing In Action) flag reminds us of those who have not returned. The 3rd flag is flown in honor of those who are currently serving our country around the globe.
